Thomas W. Smith, age 60, of Battle Creek, struggled with multiple sclerosis, and lost his short battle to cancer on May 12, 2018. He was born on December 14, 1957 in Battle Creek, the son of Raymond and Marian (Leins) Smith. Thomas graduated from Springfield High School in 1976 and previously was employed as a roofer with Sherriff Goslin Roofing.

Before his battle with multiple sclerosis, he was a competitive athlete. He excelled at all sports including; tennis, baseball, darts, bowling, but his real passion was the game of golf. If anyone wanted to find Thomas, they could usually find him on the golf course.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Surviving are his brothers; Steve (Vicky) Smith of Interlochen, Jim (Tolly) Smith of Tennessee, sisters; Karen Smith and Mollie Hiatt both of Battle Creek, Diane Warner of Climax, nieces; Kelly, Samantha, Lina, nephews; Jason, Justin, David, Tyler, several cousins; life long friends; Rick Jaffke and Mark Carter. In accordance to his wishes, cremation has taken place.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Condolences may be left for the family at www.
