Timothy “Tim” Hine January 24, 1963 – May 26, 2018 Timothy “Tim” Hine, age 55, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Tim was born on January 24, 1963 in Springfield, IL to John P. Hine and Evelyn E. (Hewes) Hine and has lived in this area since 1995, coming from Texas. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a Master’s Degree in Ceramic Engineering.

Tim worked as an engineer with Honeywell Industries for over 10 years. He had a passion for golf that he learned from his father. He enjoyed playing golf with the Honeywell Men’s Golf League.

He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Parish and served on the St. Jude Catholic Parish School Board. Tim was known the “The Quiet Giant” with a big heart. He was also known as the “King of Useless Information” which helped him in winning many trivia games.

And finally he was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Blackhawks, and “The Fighting Illini”. On November 10, 2000 in South Bend, Indiana he was united in marriage to Linda J. (Szymanski) Hine, who survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Rebecca Zakowski of Indianapolis and Emily Hine of South Bend; sons, Connor Zakowski and Seth Hine, both of South Bend; his mother, Evelyn Hine of Raleigh, NC; sister Patrice (Wayne) Johnsen of Raleigh, NC; brothers, Mark (Lorna) Hine of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Michael (Anne) Hine of Springfield, IL and Jeff (Janet) Hine of Cape Gerardo, MO; along with many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Tim is also survived by his mother-in-law, Lorraine Szymanski; two special brother-in-laws, Danny Szymanski and Michael (Jennifer) Szymanski; and Linda’s sister, Patty (Pete) Waite. Tim was preceded in death by his father, John P. Hine. A Memorial Mass for Tim Hine will be held at 4:00 pm Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at St. Jude Catholic Parish, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend, IN 46614.

Friends may visit with the family Wednesday afternoon, May 30th from 1:00 -3:00 pm at Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46614. Private graveside services will be held at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, IN. Memorial contributions may be given to the family for “College Funds” for Seth and Emily or to the American Cancer Society of North Central Indiana, 130 Red Coach Drive, Mishawaka, IN 46545 or to St. Jude Catholic Parish.
