Van A. May, of Marietta, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Van was born on June 17, 1932 in Jacksonville, Florida the son of the late Alexander May & Eva Cumbus May. Van graduated from The University of Florida with a B.S. in Chemistry.

He enjoyed a successful 40-year career in the Chemical and Textile Industries. After retiring in 2007 from BP Fabrics and Fibers Company, Van spent his time as an avid supporter of the Florida Gators, as well as, enjoying his hobbies of golf and bridge. He also loved his extensive travels with his wife Kathy, family gatherings, and time with friends in the community.

Van is now reunited with those who have gone before him in Heaven. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kathy M. May; his children Vann Hoffman (Jane), Kelly Moss (Stephen), Kimberly Morani (Brian), Damian Hartsock (Katie); and his grandchildren – who adored their Pop – Jordan, Kristy, Cameron, Sawyer, and Mary Katherine. Services will be held at Mayes Ward-Dobbins where the family will receive friends on Thursday, January 31 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.

The funeral will be held in the Chapel at Mayes Ward-Dobbins on Friday, February 1 at 11:00 AM followed by interment at Kennesaw Memorial Park. Van enjoyed the inspirational music at his church so those who so desire may make a memorial donation to the Music Ministry at Due West United Methodist Church in Marietta, Georgia To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Van Alexander May please visit our Sympathy Store.
