Services for Vernell Bishop, 81, of Gilmer will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Benny Ramey officiating. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery. Mrs. Bishop passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018 in Longview.

Vernell was born April 18, 1937, in Upshur County, to Vernon and Gladys Bishop. She worked for many years as a Land-person for the Oil and Gas Industry. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Gilmer.

She is preceded… Read More » in death by her parents; a brother, Ricky Bishop; sisters, Gwendolyn Thompson, Sandra Newton, Stacy Bishop, and Mattye Lou Orms. Left to cherish her memory are three children and spouses; Angie Herlocker and husband, Bill, of Jefferson, Steve Helton and wife, Pam of Gilmer, Darla Ramey, and husband, Benny, of Pittsburg; brothers, Billy Bishop and Timmy Bishop; sisters, Jo Beth Bishop, Bennita Merrell, Twyla Madden, Becky Edwards; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www. grubbsloydfh.com.
