James Lee Talley, 78, was born on July 21, 1940 in Houston, Texas to Marian and Gordon Talley. He went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2018 from Alzheimer’s disease. A memorial service will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1818 Spring Hill Road, Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at 11:00, with Brother Scott O’Rear officiating.

Lovingly known as Jimmy or “Grumpy”. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Ben Talley, grandson Tyler Talley and sister Judy Evans.

Jimmy was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone (AT&T) after 40 years of service. He was ordained as a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Spurger, Texas and was a 32 degree Mason at The Snow River Lodge in Spurger, Texas. He was also a member of the breakfast crew at the “Silver Spur Restaurant” in Gladewater.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hearts Way Hospice at PO Box 5608, Longview, Texas 75608 or Fellowship Baptist Church at 1818 Spring Hill Road, Longview, Texas 75605. A special thank you to the caregivers at Hearts Way Hospice, Ashley, Stacy and Jason for their loving care of “Grumpy”.
