Vevalee Smith, 83, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 8:43 PM, Monday, May 14, 2018 at Tuscola Health Care Center in Tuscola, IL. Graveside services will be held 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL with Pastor Lanny Faulkner officiating. Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd.

, Urbana, IL is in charge of arrangements. Vevalee was born July 20, 1934 in Atwood, IL, a daughter of Floyd and Clara Lewis. She graduated from Atwood High School and married Robert Vern Smith on November 20, 1955.

He passed away January 28, 2015. Survivors include two grandsons, Ethan Smith and Patrick Smith, both of Decatur, IL, and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Smith of Decatur. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Dr. Robert Lewis Smith.

Vevalee lived her entire life in Atwood. She worked as a Superintendent’s Secretary for the school district for many years and was the first female mayor of Atwood. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Atwood and enjoyed antiques and her dogs.

The family would like to thank the staff at Tuscola Health Care Center for their loving kindness. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 231 N. Illinois St., Atwood, IL 61913.
