William Horatio Chapman, 61, of Mahomet, passed away on Friday, April 27, at home. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

William was born on December 17, 1956 to parents Mary Della Law and Marvin Chapman; they preceded him in death. He is survived by two sisters, Amy Chapman and Shirley Chapman, and three nephews, Joshua Chapman, Keegan McDonald, and Kessler McDonald, along with his companion of 14 years, Aillinn Dannave. William earned his Associate Degree in political science at Parkland College.

During his time there, he was very active in Student Government, serving as an officer of the organization for two years. He also attended the University of Illinois. William developed a lifelong passion for music, enjoying a wide variety of genres.

He was a talented songwriter, singer, and guitarist, and he played with several local bands, including Old Dad, Silver Nickel Band, and Cynyx. William was a fan of the Boston Celtics, as well as the Chicago White Sox and Bears. He loved cinema and television.

He had an amazing ability to remember in detail the plots, characters, and important dialogue from many movies and TV shows. He followed politics and current events closely. Of great importance to him were the many cats that lived with him over the years.

William was a very intelligent, kind-hearted man with many talents and wide-ranging interests. He will be deeply missed. Condolences may be offered online at www.
