Vickie L. Cross, age 57, of Bluff City, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Worley and Shirley White Malone and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Vickie enjoyed cooking, fishing, cooking out, going on picnics and old cars. Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, April Keplinger (Daniel) of Bluff City; four sisters, Angie Estep (Chris) and Teresa Hyder (Teddy) all of Elizabethton, Susan Malone of Watauga, Melissa Otey (David) of Bristol, TN; two brothers, Ricky Malone and Edward Malone both of Watauga; two step-sisters, Joyce Rodifer of Bluff City and Pansy Cross of Watauga; one step-brother, Rondle Malone of Watauga; and her ex-husband, William R. Cross of Bluff City. Several nieces and nephews as well as her special cat “Sammy” also survives.

A service to honor the life of Vickie L. Cross will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Tetrick Funeral Home, Bluff City with Pastor Kenny Levcoe officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service in the chapel or at the home of her sister, Susan Malone at other times. The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service at Sunrise Cemetery in Bluff City.

Active pallbearers will be Brent Shell, Hayden Shell, Daniel Keplinger, William Cross, Edward Malone and Johnny Wainscott. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Charles Samoyian, Sara Hammons, all of her caregivers and all who showed their love and concern to Vickie during her illness. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Carter County Animal Shelter, 135 Sycamore Shoals Drive, Elizabethton, TN, 37643 or to the Sullivan County TN Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 589, Blountville, TN, 37617.
