Obituary for Vincenza Marone Vincenza Marone, of South Amboy, the Matriarch of her beloved family passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at the age of 91. Born Sunday, June 20, 1926 in Staten Island, New York, Vincenza was the daughter of the late Vincent and Anna Terlizzi. Vincenza was raised in Staten Island and would go on to graduate from McKee High School.

In 1946, Vincenza would marry the love of her life, James Marone. The loving couple would raise their family on Staten Island. During this time Vincenza worked as a meat wrapper at Walbaum’s Supermarket on Forest Ave in Staten Island.

She was a loving woman, who enjoyed cooking meals for family gatherings. Vincenza enjoyed bowling with her league at Sunset Lanes on Richmond Ave in Staten Island. Vincenza was always the family caretaker, never hesitating to care for the older members of her family in their time of need.

In 1982 after 36 years of marriage her beloved husband James passed away. Vincenza continued to be a pillar of support for her family during this hard time in their lives. It was later in life Vincenza met her beloved companion Gus Bono, and the two would enjoy each others company for years to come.

They traveled together to many destinations including Las Vegas, and Australia. After Gus passed away Vincenza moved to New Jersey to be closer to her family. During these years Vincenza enjoyed spending time at the South Amboy Senior Center, playing Bingo, and Knitting.

The legacy she leaves behind is great, to care for others, and always take care of family. She will be terribly missed by all those that were blessed to have had her in their lives. Vincenza is survived by her beloved children, Mary Ommert and her husband Richard, and Anna Covell-Meyer and her husband Bob, by her cherished grandchildren, Denise Schafer and her husband William, Carol Rene Ommert and her partner Karon Kiser, and Elizabeth Ommert, by her adoring great grandchildren William James Schafer, and Deanna Schafer, and by her caring brother John Terlizzi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take palce on Friday at 10:30 AM at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Interment Services to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.
