Obituary for Sandor Lech Sandor Lech, 61, of Old Bridge, passed away May 27, 2018 in New Brunswick, NJ after a valiant fight against cancer. A gathering of friends and family will be held at Hegarty & Scalia Funeral Home in Old Bridge (3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, NJ 08857) on Friday, June 1 between 11:00am and 1:00pm. All are welcome.

A short service will begin at 12:00pm. Sandor was born on July 27, 1956 in Krakow, Poland. He lived in Warsaw for much of his early adulthood, attained a master’s degree in civil engineering and was proud to be a part of the Solidarity movement in the early eighties.

An athlete, as well, Sandor was selected for the Polish national ski team which afforded him the opportunity to tour the world doing something he loved. In the early nineties, he immigrated to the United States with his young children to pursue the American Dream. One of his proudest moments occurred in March 2018, when he officially became a US citizen.

Many things about Sandor will leave an indelible imprint on his friends and family including an enthusiastic love of all sports; especially skiing, European soccer, the NHL and most recently mountain biking. His kindness, compassion, sense of humor and his steadfast love for his family will be remembered fondly. Sandor is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Marcin.

Sandor is survived by his wife of 24 years, Denae Dalia-Lech and his children Jacek and Marta Lech. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the entire staff at St. Peter’s University Hospital and, in particular, the nurses in the oncology department, emergency department and ICU for their incredible support, care and compassion during Sandor’s illness. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Sandor may be directed to Saint Peter’s University Hospital.
