Virginia (Ginger) Ruth Lewis Dodge, 75, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2018, surrounded by her family, due to incidents related to a surgery and a long time battle with COPD. Born on August 15, 1943, in Los Angeles, California, the only daughter of Robert Paul and Olie Idell Crawford Lewis. Ginger was born second in line to an older brother, preceding her in death, Frank Lewis.

Ginger spent the first half of her life in L.A., camping and fishing with her older brother and parents whenever possible. Finishing her high school years in Duncan, Arizona, she lived with many cousins, her Aunt Ann and Uncle Elno creating many close kinships and memories with her loved ones. After high school, Ginger briefly attended BYU University, later becoming a cosmetologist (beautician back than) she moved to Nevada where she worked near the Las Vegas Strip.

The excitement being a little too much, lead her to return to Utah where she resided ever since. Ginger married James (Jim) G. Dodge in 1976 in Jackson Hole, WY. Then creating a combined family, two daughters from Jim, a son and daughter from Ginger, and adding another additional son.

Ginger held many jobs throughout her life, mainly working with flowers and plants but her biggest pride and joy was her family, making a point to spend time each year on family vacations and multiple camping trips. She was a very kind hearted soul who cared deeply for all she came in contact with whether you had two legs or four, came from lots of wealth or knowledge to none at all she loved everyone the same. She would always take the time to listen and if willing, give her advice.

Ginger is survived by her husband Jim Dodge, of 42 years; their daughter Traci and Art Herrera, grandchildren Hayley and Ashton; daughter Melinda Petro and Ron Gines grandchildren, Kerrick and Sequoia; daughter Lesli and Chris Schott, grandchildren Christian, Alex and Chloe; and son Andrew James Dodge. Preceded in death by Ginger’s eldest son Jerry Petro and elder brother Frank Lewis. We want to issue a special Thank You to the Kind and caring staff at both Davis and Promise Hospital.

At her request there will be a small service and funeral held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
