Obituary for Virginia V. Born Virginia Violet Born, 83, of Red Wing, died Friday, May 4, 2018, at the Zumbrota Health Services where she has resided for the past three months. She was born on June 20, 1934, in Rock Elm, Wisconsin to Lester and Jesse (Babcock) Pfingsten. She attended schools in Red Wing and on May 15, 1951 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Marvin Born.
She worked at Red Wing Cleaners, Red Wing Pottery and for 20 years at Jostens. She also did daycare in her home for a number of years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Wing.
Virginia enjoyed her many art projects, crafts, sewing, music, bowling and camping. She is survived by her husband, Marvin; three children, Jerry (Ann) Born of Red Wing, Linda (Paul) Skovbroten of Rochester and Kevin (Debbie) Born of Red Wing; one son-in-law, Kevin Avery of Welch; ten grandchildren, Shawna (Chad) Peterson, Sara (Todd) Winkels, Jared (Nicole) Skovbroten, Carrie (Derrick) Madsen, Jennifer (Justin) Hoffman, Adam (Vicki) Avery, Andy (Kelly) Avery, Tyler (Maeta) Avery, Jordan Born and Rachel Born; sixteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy (Martin) Quam of Red Wing and Delores Bundy of Seattle, WA; one brother, William Cederberg of Red Wing and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Diane Avery; three brothers, Sylvester, Lyle and Waleigh and one sister, Darlene.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Reverend Todd Engel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
