Obituary for Walter E. Conner Walter E. Conner, age 89, of Murrells Inlet, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 at Hope Arbor Assisted Living. Walter was born in Alcoa, Tennessee on December 29, 1928 to the late Elmer & Annie Conner. He was honored to serve his country in the United States Navy and retired as a Commander at 26 years of Active Duty.

He was a member of the Retired Officers Association, Fleet Reserve Association, and the Socastee United Methodist Church. He was also a graduate of the University of Tennessee. Besides his parents, Walter is preceded in death by two sisters, Hilda Johnston and Frances Conner.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Conner; son, Walter A. Conner, and wife Chris, of Newark, Delaware; daughter, Kathy Finn, and husband Mark, of Las Vegas, NV; 4 granddaughters, Claire, Lauren, Brittany, and McKenzie; and 2 great-grandchildren, Nora and Conner. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Socastee United Methodist Church, 5575 Dick Pond Road, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588, followed by inurnment in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends following the service.
