Mr. Walter H. Bell Sr., 80, of Jim Thorpe, Pa. passed away Monday April 23rd at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, Pa. He was the husband of Shirley E. (Holcomb) Bell.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa. , he was a son of the late Harry & Mary (Oliver) Bell. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a union carpenter working out of Carpenters Union Local 2098.

He loved doing woodworking/home maintenance and took pride in the fact that he built his own home in the Jim Thorpe area starting in 1977. He was a very active member of The Lighthouse Baptist Church, Franklin Township, Pa. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 daughters, Maria, wife of Lou Greco of Philadelphia, Terri, wife of Rick Giampaolo of Montgomery County, a son, Walter Bell Jr. & his wife Kimberly of Bensalem, a sister Debbie, wife of Dallas Deitrich of Florida, 5 grandchildren, Stephanie, Jeffrey, Nicole, Jennifer, Jessica, 3 great-grandchildren, Madalynn, Greyson, Christian, a step-daughter, Diana McLaughlin, 2 step-grandchildren, Benjamin, Kari, 3 step-great-grandchildren, Andrew, Madalynn, Joseph, nieces & nephews.

He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Winnie, Violet, & 2 brothers, Tom & David. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 27th at 11 :30 a.m. at The Ovsak FH, 190 S. 4th St., Lehighton. Call 10-11:30 a.m. Interment in Franklin Heights Memorial Park, East Weissport, Pa.
