Walter R. Abbott, Jr., 86, of Waynesboro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at his home, with his loving family at his side. He was born on April 27, 1932, in North Carolina, to the late Elizabeth Stephens Abbott and the late Walter R. Abbott, Sr. Walter was a veteran of the Air Force and was retired as a Cryptologist at the US Department of State and enjoyed driving a school bus for the Augusta County Schools. He was a member of the New Hope Fire Department, Hermitage Presbyterian Church and a life long member of the American Legion.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings; Dewey, Harvey, Norman, Lottie, Emma and Doris. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Josephine “Judy” Abbott; children, Kenny Abbott and his wife, Pat and Doug Abbott; grandson, Josh Abbott; brother, Richard Abbott and his wife, Ruby and numerous loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Services will be Private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shenandoah Valley Animal Services, 1001 Mt. Torrey Rd, Lyndhurst, VA 22952.
