Wanda Jean Davis, 79, of Oxford Grand Villages in Kansas City, formerly of Decatur, Georgia, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018, at North Kansas City Hospital surrounded by family. She was born November 3, 1938, to the late Robert Lee and Opal Lee Davis in Rutherford County, NC. Additionally, she was a consultant to educational programs at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Institute of American Indian Arts in New Mexico. She retired from the Georgia State Department of Education and then become a college English Professor in Atlanta. Wanda was an avid reader, accomplished writer and a lover of the arts.

She also had a passion for painting, gardening, and crossword puzzles. She was smart and funny and a wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, Aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Holly & Chip Morgan of Kansas City, MO, a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Mary Gray of Burke, VA, a brother and sister-in-law, Robert & Joyce Davis of Polkville, NC, a sister and brother-in-law, Pat & Joel Stewart of Norwalk, CT, and a sister in law, Clifta Davis of Shelby, NC, along with her grandchildren Stephen Gray, Chelsea Brown, Jason Gray, Dylan Morgan, Charlie Gray and multiple nieces, a nephew, and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Wanda is preceded in death by her brother, Steve Davis of Polkville, NC. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 2 PM, at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center Chapel, Fallston, NC; a gathering will precede the service beginning at 12 PM. Burial will be at Sandy Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.
