Mrs. Weonta E. Fitzgerald, 98, of Acworth, GA, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family on Monday, October 8, 2018. Weonta was born to the late Georgiana Evans on April 27, 1920, in Kingston, NY. She was a dedicated wife to her late husband, James (Jim) Fitzgerald; a well known Kingston native and business owner.

Weonta was a devoted mother to her 4 children: Audrey, George, Betty and India; and 5 stepchildren: Jimmy, Johnny, Sharon, Herbert and Don-Don. She loved all of her children unconditionally. Mrs. Fitzgerald worked for many years at a dress factory and was a domestic worker at Benedictine Hospital for over 10 years, where she retired.

She and her husband relocated the family to West Palm Beach County, FL. , where they settled for a couple of years. They enjoyed their retirement by spending time with family, traveling and relaxing in the yard underneath the grapefruit trees.

They eventually relocated to Georgia where they spent the remainder of their lives. “Mrs. Fitzgerald, Mother, Mommy, We, Boss” are some of the names she was affectionately called by her family and friends, but the name that gave her the most gratification, joy and delight was “NANA”. She was the grandmother, great grandmother and great grandmother to many.

She loved all of her grandchildren tremendously. They were the apples of her eye, her Pudds, her Dolls, Darlins, and Sugar Foots. She really was a lover of all children; there has never been a child that was in her presence that didn’t end up sitting on her lap or sweetened up with some of her Sugar.
