Obituary for Westley Grady Rhodes Jr. Westley Grady Rhodes, Jr. “Sunny” passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at age 89. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Verda Ellard Rhodes “Topsy”; two children, Grady Rhodes and Robin Rhodes Armstrong; two grandchildren, Chad McCain and Chance (Rachel) Armstrong; one great grandson, Elishua McCain; four sisters, Roberta Northington, Ramona Reynolds, Lucille Carlisle, and Louise Livingston; one brother, Robert Rhodes; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Westley was preceded in death by his parents, West & Versa Rhodes; siblings, William Rhodes, Howard Rhodes, Charlotte Rhodes, and John Henry Rhodes; and grandson Guy Randall Armstrong.

He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Pemco Aeroplex Inc formerly Hayes Aircraft after 42 years of service where he was a member of UAW Local 1155. He was a member of Fultondale Methodist Church.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. with the service to follow at 2:30 p.m. at The New Gardendale Funeral Home. Burial will be at Ellard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517 or support.
