Milan, Sr., 86, died peacefully Saturday, January 19, 2019 at home. He was born July 17, 1932 in Wheeling, WV a son of the late Frederick J. and Iva M. (Bogard) Milan. William was retired from Brilliant Plant of Ohio Ferro Alloy and from the Saginaw Mine Co. of St. Clairsville, OH He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Martins Ferry.

He was a former post commander of Colerain V.F.W. Post #8848 and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force of the Korean War. In addition to his parents he is preceded by his wife of 62 years, Helen M. (Smithoffer) Milan, his son-in-law, George Burns and siblings; Rose M. Ankrom and Charles Milan. Surviving are his children; Lisa M. Burns of Martins Ferry and William A. (Ruthy Stan) Milan, Jr. of St. Clairsville, OH, siblings; Stella (Dale) Gettys of Morton IL, Mae (Franklin) Stewart of St. Clairsville and Mary (Walter) Kapiskosky of Sandusky, OH, grandchildren; Billy Milan, III of St. Clairsville and Hyacin (Alec Smith) Ray of Martins Ferry; and a great grandchild Milan Smith.

Friends and family may be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut Street, Martins Ferry, OH Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Marut officiating. Burial follows at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.

Military honors will be presented by the Belmont County Veterans Association at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be made by signing the guest book at the top of this posting.
