William “Bill” Kirk Boor KEYSER, WV – William “Bill” Kirk Boor, age 77, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, May 3, 2018 in his home, surrounded by family members, following an 18-month long battle with lung cancer. Born in Keyser, on August 20, 1940, he was the son of the late William Kirk and Ann (Porter) Boor. He was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Solomon and Cody Boor; his brother, Wayne Boor; and his sister Marion Fallon.
Bill was a graduate of Keyser High School where he was a 1959 Ed Kelley Award nominee. He attended both Potomac State College and Shepherd College, where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree. On November 29, 1963, he married Charlotte (McBride) Boor.
They were blessed with three children together and had been married for 54 years at the time of his passing. He was a teacher in both Mineral County schools and at Moorefield High School, where he served as the head basketball coach and the assistant football coach. He worked as a social worker for the West Virginia Department of Human Res and retired in 2003 with over 37 years of service.
During his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, playing guitar, and spending time with his family. His favorite past time was hunting with his son and daughter-in-law. He was a member of Westernport Assembly of God in Westernport, Maryland.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Boor; his daughters, Kimberly Crickenberger and husband Joseph (Philippi, WV); Krista Boor (Keyser); and son, Scott Boor and wife, Julie (Keyser). He is also survived by nine grandchildren—Kim and Joe’s children, Sarah and husband Raúl Ramírez (Honduras), Samuel and Naomi Crickenberger (Morgantown) as well as Krista’s children, Gabrielle, Mariah, and Isaiah Bartlett (Kaneohe, Hawaii); Joshua Bartlett and his wife, Jessica (Bellevue, WA); and Nadia and Nadim Smith (Keyser). Friends will be received Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser from 12 – 2 p.m. Services will immediately follow with Pastor Wes Beahm officiating.
Interment will be at Queens Point Cemetery, Keyser, WV. In lieu of flowers, please send a tax-deductible donation to the non-profit ministry, GodSend, Inc. in his memory for his granddaughter, Sarah, who is a missionary in Honduras. Do not write her name anywhere on the check.
