Obituary for William David Spainhower William David (Dave) Spainhower 87 passed away 10 December 2018 at Cookeville Regional Hospital, Cookeville, TN. He was born in Moravia, NY on 17 May 1931, the son of the late Marquis O. and Lucy Mae Cornelius Spainhower. Dave was a 1950 graduate of Camden High School, Camden, NY.

After graduation, he entered the United States Air Force (USAF), with an assignment in Germany, where he met his first wife, Marian Bell Spainhower, mother of his children. He was a retired educator, teaching at Shasta High School, where he was appointed Vice-Principal, later becoming Principal of the Pioneer Alternative School in Redding, California. On 17 December 2013, he was united in marriage with Anita Phelps Lockhart.

The couple resided in Sparta, TN spending some time each summer in native Upstate New York. Among his hobbies over the years were woodworking and art. Dave was an avid golfer, and he was proud of his record of four holes-in-one.

Dave is survived by his wife, Anita, three sons, Doug (Lisa Kendall) Spainhower, (Colorado), Brian (Ingrid) Spainhower and Craig (Jeanette) Spainhower, two daughters, Lynn Brewer and Ann Spainhower (all of California) a step-son, Paul (Linda) Lockhart Sr., and a step-daughter, Margo L. Caldwell, all of Blossvale, NY. , and their families. He is further survived by five grandsons, three granddaughters, and two great-granddaughters.

Other survivors are seven step-great-grandsons, three step-granddaughters, eleven step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild. Also surviving is an Aunt, Irene Spainhower, (Florida) nephew, Mitchell (Mark) Spainhower, former spouses/friends, Marian Spainhower and Belva Spainhower, step-daughters Paula Shearman and Belva Campbell, step-son Gerald, brother-in-law, Carleton Phelps, and many friends. Beside his parents, Dave was predeceased by two brothers, Alfred (Pete), Marquis (Mark) Spainhower, and an uncle Jack Spainhower, and niece, Jacqueline Spainhower.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to your charity of choice.
