LEDBETTER Anniston – Graveside service for Mr. William Eugene Ledbetter, 88, will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. in Anniston Memorial Gardens with Rev. Scott Heath officiating. The family will receive friends at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home from 9:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.

Mr. Ledbetter passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Diversicare of Oxford. Mr. Ledbetter was born on January 29, 1930 in Sycamore, Alabama, to the late John and Jenny Ledbetter. Mr. Ledbetter was a wonderful person and was a member of Gladeview Baptist Church.

Mr. Ledbetter received his bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville State University and his master’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University. He retired from the Anniston City School System where he taught and coached for many years, touching the lives of many students. Mr. Ledbetter served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years and the Army Reserves for 25 years.

He had a great love for flowers and enjoyed sharing them with his many friends. Mr. Ledbetter will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Ledbetter is survived by his sister-in-law and caregiver, Janice Dempsey; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Linda Heath; and three brothers, Jack and Edward Ledbetter and Leonard Pogue.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Heath Ledbetter and their son, William Heath Ledbetter. Flowers will be accepted, or donations can be made to the Presbyterian Children’s Home at the website address of: secure. acceptiva.com/?
