William Gary Schaen, 68, of Grantsville, MD, died Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at his home. Born February 13, 1950, in Newark, DE, he was the son of Dorothy (Gisriel) Hughes, Millersville, MD, and the late William Schaen. Mr. Schaen was a self-employed truck driver and heavy equipment operator.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a lifelong member of the VFW; Grantsville Post 214, American Legion and Earl H. Opel Post 459, American Legion Riders, Salisbury, PA. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Barbara Gail (Koeneke) Davis; one son, Bryan (Jackie) Schaen, Glen Burnie, MD; one step-son, Randy (Barbara) Davis, Baltimore; one daughter, Kristi (Derek) Glock, Linden, VA; two step-daughters, Mary Jo (Matthew) Meilstrup, Severna Park, MD; Jennifer (Ryan) Davis, Frostburg; two sisters, Donna Clark, Easton, MD; Betty Schaen-Cazer, Millersville; one half-sister, Susan Lorenzo and three half-brothers, Eric, Brian and Randy Schaen, all of CT and two grandchildren, Lilliana Rose and Brandon; five step-grandchildren, Christopher, Sydney, Benjamin, Isla and Jack. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 5-7 pm.

A military graveside service will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018, at 11:00 am at Maryland State Veteran’s Cemetery, Rocky Gap, with interment following. Condolences may be sent to the family at www. newmanfuneralhomes.com.
