Betty Mae Murphy, 79, of Oakland, MD, died Friday, November 9, 2018, at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Oakland. Born July 10, 1939, in Elk Garden, WV, she was the daughter of the late Walter Edgar and Catherine Ann (Somerville) Maule. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James W. Murphy, Sr.; a daughter, Patti Tasker; three brothers, James, Joseph, and Osborn Maule; a sister, Minnie Shaffer.

Betty was a homemaker. She is survived by two sons, James W. Murphy, Jr., Warner Robins, GA and Randy A. Murphy and wife, Sarah, Oakland; one daughter, Nancy J. Murphy, Oakland; a sister, Gladys M. Stewart, Oakland; six grandchildren, Timothy Tasker, Terri Tasker, James Murphy, III, Jennifer Raflowitz, Taylor Murphy, Parker Murphy; three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Keyona and Amelia; a special nephew, Farris Maule. According to her wishes, Betty was cremated and a memorial service will be planned for a later date.
