Obituary for Wilma Burleson Wilma Ollis Burleson, age 91, of Kaywilla Lane in Spruce Pine died, Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation. Born on March 25, 1927 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Ella Weatherman Ollis. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred E. Burleson who passed away in 2010.

Wilma was a long standing member of the Grassy Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and liked animals. She studied her Bible every day and the activities she enjoyed the most were always church related.

Left to cherish her memories are her sisters; Gladys Duncan of Spruce Pine and Edith McClellan of Hickory and many nieces and nephews. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Wilma Burleson on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Grassy Creek Baptist Church with the Rev’s Matt Mills and Nathan Silver officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the church.

Interment will follow in the Grassy Creek Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Blue Ridge. Words of comfort may be e-mailed to the family by going to our website, www.
