Albert D. “Mac” McElroy, 89, of Wintersville, Ohio died Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Valley Hospice. He was born November 1, 1929 in Steubenville, Ohio a son of the late Harry & Marguerite Merryman McElroy. After 32 years of service, he retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.

80” Mill and went on to work at National Steel Research Center for six years. Mac served for 3 years in Okinawa as a staff sergeant in the USAF. Mac served the Cross Creek Township Police Dept.

for 25 years and was a member of F.O.P. Lodge 97. Preceding Mac in death were his wife of 58 years, Harriet Birrell McElroy; son James D. McElroy; brothers James D. & H. Dean McElroy and mother-in-law Alice G. Caven. He loved camping, fishing, playing cards, traveling and teasing his grandchildren.

Mac is survived by his son Mark of the residence and daughter Catherine (Chris) Norton of Onsted, MI; four grandchildren Michael (Mindy) Norton, Dr. Matthew (Dr. Whitney) Norton, Cassandra (Mike) Kupniewski & Andrew Norton; four great grandchildren Connor, Marlee, Jillian & Kenleigh; and his faithful canine companion Maggie. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Burial at Union Cemetery.
