Obituary for Albert “Fadina” Ambrosia Albert “Fadina” Ambrosia, 90, of Iron Mountain, MI passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Middle Hospital in Middletown, CT after a short illness surrounded by his loving family. Albert, known to his friends as Fadina, was born on September 10, 1928 in Iron Mountain, son of the late Anthony and Josephine (Ziller) Ambrosia. He grew up in Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School.
In 1947, Albert enlisted in the United States Navy as an Aviation Photographer’s Mate, proudly serving his country during the Korean War until 1952. After leaving the U.S. Navy with an honorable discharge, he returned to Iron Mountain and worked several years in the shipping/receiving department at General Controls in Kingsford before working as a machinist at Eagle Tool Co., retiring in 1991 after nearly 30 years. It was during this time that Albert met the love of his life, Janet (Nana) Barcome of Iron Mountain.
Fadina loved playing golf and was a member of Pine Grove Country Club for many years. He also enjoyed playing cards at deer camp and was the last surviving member of the old Pine Hill Lodge crew. In addition to playing cards, he also enjoyed watching all sports, but his passion was with football and baseball as a die-hard fan of the University of Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Lions, and Detroit Tigers.
Albert is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Janet “Nana”, two sons, James (Donna) Ambrosia of Colchester, CT and Jeffrey (Michelle) Ambrosia of Dearborn, MI; eight grandchildren, Dakota, Anthony, Cassandra, Angelina, Alexandra, Aiden, Catheryn, and Elizabeth; one great-granddaughter, Carmella; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Dixon and Margaret Swartz; two brothers-in-law, Basil Barcome and Edward Swartz; many nieces and nephews. Albert was preceded in death by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Raphael (Signe) Ambrosia, Anthony (Angeline) Ambrosia, Clarence (Carmen) Ambrosia; two sisters and brother-in-law, Marion Elizabeth Ambrosia and Irene (Ralph) Verley; three sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law, Elaine (Perry) McCabe, Leona (Ray) St. Vincent, Geneva (Leonce) Mongrain, and Earl Dixon; three nephews, Scott David Ambrosia, Albert Eugene Ambrosia, and Richard Ambrosia. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Fr. Raymond Valerio will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
