Obituary for Blayne P. Grenfell Blayne Grenfell, 40, of Kingsford, passed away on October 4, 2018. Blayne was born January 23, 1978 in Iron Mountain, son of the late Bud and Maria “Mia” (Mascotti) Grenfell. He had attended Kingsford High School and after graduation, he moved to Denver, Colorado, the city which he had called home for nearly 20 years.

With a twinkle in his eye, Blayne brought a joyful laugh to everyone he met. He traveled widely around the world, and his adventurous spirit brought him to places that left their mark on him, just as he left his imprint on the people he met during his travels. Blayne was an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction.

He shared his love of reading by browsing books with his friends, and by gifting some of his favorite books to those people he cared for—including the occasional stranger whom he had struck up a conversation with. He was an excellent conversationalist, and could lift anyone out of a glum mood with his stories and jokes. Blayne was also at home in nature.

He loved hiking, kayaking, yoga, and fly-fishing, which he did alongside those who were most dear to him, in the U.P., Colorado, and California. Blayne is survived by his brother, Brent Grenfell of South Carolina, and also by many friends who considered Blayne to be like a brother. He will be sorely missed.
