Obituary of Albert Herz Albert William Herz “Big Al”- 83, died peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on April 12, 2018. Albert was born in Baltimore on July 14, 1934 to Elizabeth Connelly and Albert Joseph Herz. At a young age, Albert and his younger brother William (Bill) were orphaned and went to live with their grandmother, Anna Wolf Connelly.

After meeting at a dance at Kay Hill, Albert was married to Lillian Riley on April 27th, 1957. He was then deployed for isolated duty with the Coast Guard to the Lucian Islands in Alaska. When he returned, they started their family and he went to work for NSA until his retirement.

He also opened and ran his own business; Herz TV. During Al and Lillian’s 61 years of marriage they had seven children who they raised in Reisterstown, MD. Even though he worked hard, long hours, Al stressed the importance of family, made time for vacations to the beach, and he of course passed down his love of Frank Sinatra.

Music, dance, and humor were staples in the Herz house. As a devout Catholic, Albert also was a leader in the Pro-life movement. His protests and writings have been published both on a local and national level.

Albert’s death was preceded by his third child, Julie Cook. He is survived by his wife Lillian, and his children: Cynthia Freeman, Suzanne Sanatamaria, Sharon Owens, Daniel Herz, Chris Herz, and Dianne Cleary. He is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 16, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, P.A., 501 Snow Hill Rd.
