Alice Mabrey Cooper, 88, former resident of Morgan Avenue, widow of Clyde T. Cooper, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 17, 2018. Alice was born in Greenwood on August 8, 1929, to the late Ralph T. Mabrey and Fannie Mae Greene Martin and was raised in the home of her grandparents, Ernest and Annie VeRelle Mabrey. Alice grew up in Greenwood and married the love of her life, Clyde Thomas Cooper, at the age of 17.

Alice was a dedicated member of the Aline Barnes Sunday School Class at Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church, and her greatest passion was caring for others, especially her family, spending countless hours fostering the growth of her children, grandchildren and then her great grandchildren. Her favorite thing in the world was to gather family and friends for quality time at her home where so many of them enjoyed her famously delicious cooking.

Surviving is one daughter, Candy C. Tinsley and husband Robert of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Shay Funderburk Twiggs and husband Sammy of Midlothian, VA, Chip Funderburk and wife Katie, Jamison Tinsley and Cooper Tinsley and wife Grace, all of Greenwood; three great-grandchildren, Mabrey Anne and Madison Twiggs and Franklin Clyde Tinsley. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Cooper was predeceased by a daughter, Claudia Cooper Kelley and two brothers, Ted and Bob Mabrey. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.

Frank Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Chip Funderburk, Jamison Tinsley, Cooper Tinsley, Sammy Twiggs, Scott Witt, Adam Witt, Brian Witt and Tim Thomas.

Honorary escort will be members of the Aline Barnes Sunday School Class along with Alvin Johnson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 Thursday afternoon.
