Alison Leanne Terry Humann (Sam) went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 18, 2019 at her home in Corsicana. She was born November 30, 1965 in Dallas, Texas to Charles and Virginia Terry. She graduated from W.W. Samuel High School in Dallas in 1975.

After graduation she attended Wesley Bible College in Florence, Mississippi and also received her Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from East Texas State University now known as Texas A&M Commerce. After college she moved to Corsicana where he parents resided after their retirement. Corsicana had been her grandmother’s home since the early 1800’s.

Alison began working at the Corsicana Rehabilitation Center (TYC) and from there she went to work at the Corsicana YMCA and worked there on and off for 26 years even up until the last year as a CPR instructor. On April 28, 1990 Alison married the love of her life Brian Humann in the same Wesley United Methodist Church in Corsicana that her great grandparents married in. Brian and Alison have been happily married for 29 wonderful years.

Alison earned two Masters Degrees, the first master’s from American Intercontinental University, Masters of Education / Technology and the second master’s from Southern Methodist University (SMU) Perkins School of Theology Masters of Divinity. She was proud to serve as a local pastor for over twelve years and campus minister for Navarro College for three years. Alison said God blessed her with he opportunity to work as a hospice Chaplin for the past few years.

She saw working as a Chaplin a privilege to walk that last journey with the patient and family. Talking with patients and family along with meeting their needs spiritually, mending relationships and just being there for them. She also taught Wednesday night bible sturdy at the Cowboy Church of Corsicana on Highway 31 where she and her husband attended church.

Alison stated “I see learning as a never ending process”. And as she did because currently she was working on her license for a counselor as a LCDC / Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern. She served as a part of the community, being on the committee for Christmas in Action and Derrick Days.

She also was a part of the Ministerial Alliance, The Emmaus, Salivation Army, community, church and YMCA events. Alison is preceded in death by her parents, half sister Tammy Jordan Grimes and half brother Ron Terry. She is survived by her husband Brian Humann of Corsicana,Texas.

Son Aaron Humann and wife Karen of Willis, Texas and daughter Jaime Humann of Corsicana, Texas. Nephew Terry Jordan and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday afternoon, March 22, 2019 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm in the Chapel at Griffin – Roughton Funeral Home with a celebration of her life following at 3:00pm with Dr. Gary Johnson officiating.

The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to New Century Hospice team and Corsicana Cowboy Church for all their love and the excellent care provided. In the words of Alison: “Remember we are the clay and God is the Potter. He is every changing and shaping us to mold us into what her needs us to be for the working of the Kingdom of Heaven”.

“I’m just his servant and willing to be used in whatever way He wants to use me! I am His and He is my Lord and Savior”. Isaiah 64:8 “But now, O Lord, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand”.
