Obituary for Alpha Helson (Blanton) Mrs. Alpha Marie Helson, 81, of Murray, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Murray Calloway County Hospital. Mrs. Helson was born on June 29, 1936 in Edmonson County, KY to the late Luther Edward and Gertie May Blanton. She was married for 61 years to James Arlen Helson, the love of her life.

He went home to be with the Lord on July 6, 2014 and Mrs. Helson longed to be with him ever since. She was of Baptist faith. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Willadean, Edith, Doris and Elaine and four brothers, Leland, Leslie, Lonard and Charlie.

Those left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Arlene Elmore (Bill) of New Concord, KY; two sons, James Helson (Leslie) of Murray and David Helson (Vicky) of Blanchard, OK; a sister, Martha Geary of Beaver Dam; a brother, Billy Blanton (Donna) of Evansville, IN; 15 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. The funeral service for Mrs. Helson will take place at 12 PM on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Imes Funeral Home, downtown Murray. Brett Miles will officiate and burial will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers include Eric Elmore, David E. Helson, Bo Helson, C.J. Horsley, Matt Futrell, Tim England, Mark Folwell and Joseph Elmore. The family will receive visitors from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the funeral home. Online condolences available at www.
