Obituary for Alvino “Alvin” DeAnda Print Alvino DeAnda passed away peacefully on Friday February 8, 2019. Alvino was born June 8, 1926. to Fecundo and Amalia (Ortegon) DeAnda in Eden, Texas.

He married Lucy Rosas July 4, 1970, in Menard. Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic church, Tuesday February 12, at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Garden of Memories cemetery. Alvino was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He came to Menard with his parents to work For George Grandsaff, Sr. in 1927. Alvino attended school at Opp school between Ft. McKavett and Menard.

He also attended school at Menard Elementary. His first job was picking up wool for a shearing crew, and later began to shear sheep. He worked for his father and helped run the shearing machine.

He went into the Army in 1945 and served his country proudly. He worked for the Herd Ranch, a place he loved. Among the many things he did, running a combine was one.

Alvin enjoyed hunting and collecting arrow- heads and old things. He loved being in the country and riding his horse, but his greatest joy was his family and friends. Alvino is preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Rudy DeAnda and three sisters June Garcia, Sally Garcia and Amy Lozano.

Survivors include his wife Lucy DeAnda of Menard, 6 children; Mary Ellen Rangel and husband Ray, Hector Martinez, Norma Garza, Ralph Martinez, JoJo Hernandez, and Lynn DeAnda; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren and 1 sister Olivia Leal. Pallbearers will be Benjamin, Hector Jr., Danny, Gabriel, Richard, Steve, and Albert. Honorary Pallbearers are Juan, Carlos, Jenny, Richard, Marc, Jamie and Spencer.
