Alyce M. Gidel, 95, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday July 5, 2018 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Services will be 1:00pm Tuesday July 10, 2018 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00pm to service time at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be left to Hospice Compassus or Hope Creek Care Center. Alyce was born on September 2, 1922 in Moline, the daughter of Sidney and Mae (Coyne) Britton.

She married Robert Gidel in June of 1942 in Hannibal, MO. She had been employed at Bituminous Insurance as a clerk for over 20 years, retiring in 1984. Mrs. Gidel was a member of South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, Grandmothers Club and Moose Lodge.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bingo and cross-stitch. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy (Jerry) Harris, Rock Island; granddaughters, Stephanie (Chris) Gayer and Julie (Pat) Lang. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Sidney W. Britton.
