Odelia Cotton, 90, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 at her home. Funeral services for Ms. Cotton will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Second Baptist Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave.

, Rock Island. Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church, Rock Island.

Odelia was born on April 8, 1928 in Preston, Miss. , a daughter of Marcus “Tee” and Gussie (Baker) Hudson. She married Willie R. Cotton on February 11, 1945 in DeKalb, Miss.

and 4 children were born to their union. Odelia worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 26 years, retiring as a Receiving Department Supervisor in 1990. She was a dedicated member of Second Baptist Church for over 65 years.

Odelia loved bowling and bowled 6 days a week on several leagues. She was an avid basketball player who was very competitive. Odelia also enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and she was known as a great Southern cook.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Samme Montgomery, Davenport, Willie Cotton, Jr., Dorothy Cotton and Evelyn (Walter) Day and a foster son, Tervarus Morrow, all of Rock Island; grandchildren, Darrin, Anthony, Falena, Leila, Willie III, Quanishia, Nashun, Anthony, Kelly and Shanette; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Helen Carruthers, Rock Island, Delsine Hearst and Christine Harrison, Omaha, Neb. ; godchildren, Lonnie Boyd, Debbie Marshall, Sharon Wilson; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; 6 brothers, Luther, Sylvester, L.T., Charles, Milton and J.B. Hudson and 2 sisters, Lorine Gatheright and Willie B. Glispie.
