Amy Lou Smith Brandt Saginaw, Michigan Amy Lou Smith Brandt was called home to her Lord on Saturday morning, May 4, 2019 at Covenant Health Care with her loving family by her side. Amy Lou Smith was the daughter of the late Orvall L. And Aleta M. (Detwiler) Smith. She was born in Clare, Michigan on August 14, 1930.

Amy was baptized at the Standard Church in Rosebush, Michigan on September 19, 1931 and was also baptized at the Ithaca, Michigan Church of God in July of 1939. Amy graduated from Hemlock High School in June 1948, and completed two years at Delta College studying the Secretarial Sciences. Amy was raised with two sisters, Ruth and Mary, in Clare, Michigan, St. Louis, Michigan, and Hemlock, Michigan.

On June 26, 1954 she was married to Mr. Harold E. Brandt at St. John Lutheran Church, Second at Federal Streets. Harold preceded her in death on May 17, 2001. Amy loved her family and enjoyed her time with them very much.

She also enjoyed going to her cottage at Higgins Lake and playing miniature golf. Amy and Harold were blessed with a Son, Steven E. Brandt. Also surviving are Steve’s wife, Denise M. Brandt.

16 Grandchildren: James E. (Anne) Brandt, Tanna M. Brandt-Beyer, Chris S. (Sarah) Brandt, Gabrielle S. Brandt, Natalie C. Brandt, Kevin M. (Ainslee) Brandt, Michael T. Brandt, Paula A. Brandt, Aaron C. Brandt, Jasmine R. Brandt, Bryan Z. Brandt, Ollie O. Brandt, Jo Brandt, Sam Brandt, Angelo Brandt, Ty Brandt; 12 Great Grandchildren: James, Anisa, Mallory, and Robert Brandt, Kristin Brandt-Beyer, Kylee, Alyssa, and Shaun Beyer, Marcus Blankenship, Carmin Brandt and Victor and Ruby Brandt. Four nephews and their wives and families, several cousins and many other family members. Very special friend Susan Linzer.

Amy was pre-deceased by her Husband, Harold E. Brandt, her parents Orvall L. and Aleta M. (Detwiler) Smith, her aunt, Nina G. Detwiler and three poodles. Her two sisters and their husbands: Ruth M. and Roy G. Willoughby and Mary E. and Earl J. Weeden as well as her lifelong pen pal Charlie Kowalski. Amy was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church of Saginaw, the Shalom Circle, was on the money counting team, a member of St. John Lutheran Ladies Aid, Second at Federal Streets, the Christian Women’s Club, and was the Treasurer for several years.

President of the Rebekah Social Club, and the Saginaw Rebekah Lodge #253 where she was treasurer for 40 years. Amy also enjoyed concerts and plays at the Saginaw Choral Society, Pit and Balcony and the Midland Center for the Arts. Amy was a secretary for Muller-Grocer Baking Company, Saginaw Branch, for many years and a Church Secretary for a Lutheran Church in Kochville Township for 18 years.

She was employed by Black Tie Limo, Inc. from 1993 to 1999. After she retired she continued to do volunteer work. FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 2110 Brockway Street Saginaw, Michigan 48602.

Rev. Marilyn S. Robinson will officiate. Committal service to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Resurrection Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association, or the Humane Society of Saginaw County.
