Andrew Garland “Andy” Smith, Jr., 73, of Eastover, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018, in Moneta, VA, at Smith Mountain Lake. He was born September 29, 1944, to the late Cathrine and Garland Smith. He was an avid reader who enjoyed being a part of the agricultural community.

He was also an Eagle Scout who enjoyed the outdoors, especially canoeing, water skiing, and horseback riding. A long time member of Hay Street United Methodist Church, Andy was active in various ministries over decades. Throughout his life, he lived his faith and was a friend to everyone he met.

Andy is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Dr. Drew Smith and girlfriend Susan Draughon, LCDR Clay Smith and wife Anna; granddaughters, Bennett and Riley Smith; brothers, Mike Smith and wife Mary, Dr. Willie Smith and wife Carol, and Sam Smith and wife Mary Jo; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Hay Street United Methodist Church on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 pm.
