Annie attended Elementary school in Winter Garden, Florida and High School in Orlando, Florida at Jones High School. Annie Pearl was a very bright student.
Her family made a big sacrifice to further her education. She was one of two students from her community able to attend high school in Orlando during the 1930’s. Annie Pearl met and married Carl C. Ings while vacationing at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
To this union three girls were born, Annie Ruth, Carleane and Lizette. After a few years, Annie’s love for her family returned her to Winter Garden, where she later met and married Junior (Daddy O) Mullins. There were no children to this union but Daddy O accepted her three daughters as his own.
As a very young woman, Annie Pearl placed her membership with St. Paul A.M.E. of Winter Garden, where she remained faithful unto death. Annie became one of the top chefs in Central Florida and cooked at the most prestigious restaurants in the area. She was the top chef at the House of Beef in Orlando.
She continued her profession until she retired to care for her husband, Junior (Daddy O) Mullins during his illness. Annie cared for her husband until his demise in 1996. Although she retired from her profession as chef, many of her friends and customers would come by to visit her.
Annie will never be forgotten, as some have dubbed her the “Queen of biscuits and gravy”, she could also cook a steak that would melt in your mouth. Annie was always surrounded by her family. She was one of the oldest surviving citizens of East Winter Garden.
