Antoinette M. “Ann” McGonigal January 13, 1929 – July 16, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Send Sympathy Gifts Upload Photo| View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Antoinette M. “Ann” McGonigal, 89, of 511 Moon Road, St. Marys, formerly of Water Street Extension, Johnsonburg, died Monday morning, July 16, 2018, at Penn Highlands-Elk, St. Marys, following a lengthy illness. She was born on Jan. 13, 1929, in Ridgway, daughter of Carmine and Clotilde Judice Giffi.

Ann graduated from Ridgway High School, Class of 1947. On July 5, 1948, she married John T. “Jack” McGonigal Jr. in St. Leo Magnus Church, Ridgway. He preceded her in death Dec.

20, 2012. Ann resided in Johnsonburg from her marriage until 2013. She has lived in St. Marys for the past five and a half years.

Ann attended Holy Rosary Church, where she had been a member of the Rosary Altar Society and the Holy Rosary Festival Committee. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to play cards and was a member of the Tuesday Night Card Club.

She and her husband owned and operated McGonigal’s Sports Store in Johnsonburg for over 15 years. She had also worked at GC Murphy Company in Johnsonburg for over 10 years. Ann is survived by her daughter, Kathy, Mrs. David Mertz, of St. Marys; grandchildren, Heidi, Mrs. Mark Valentine, of Ridgway; Wayne McGonigal of Pittsburgh; and D.J. Mertz of St. Marys; and by great-grandchildren Sierra and Brandon Valentine.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was predeceased by her parents; husband; brothers, Frank, Nick and Joe Giffi; and sisters, Mary “Sue” Grandinetti, Rose Olay and Thomasina Werschek. Funeral Services for Antoinette “Ann” M. McGonigal will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will also be private.

Arrangements are under direction of the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg. If desired, memorial contributions should be made to Penn Highlands Community Nurses, Private Duty Home Support of Elk County, 757 Johnsonburg Road, Suite 200, St. Marys, PA. 15857.
