Antonio “Tony” Villareale, 91, of North Granby, CT, formerly of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away Monday, October 15, 2018, at his home. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to the late Marzia (Parente) Villareale who preceded him in death on February 11, 2018. Mr. Villareale was born August 4, 1927, in Canicatti, Sicily, province of Agrigento and came to Torrington in 1955, where he met his beloved wife.

He was the son of the late Antonio and Germana (Petruzelli) Villareale. He was employed by The Torrington Company as a carpenter and millwright until his retirement in 1991. He is survived by one son, Joseph Villareale of Torrington; three daughters, Rosemarie MacNeal (Kevin) of New Bern, NC, Diane Woodruff (Robert) of Morris, CT, Lisa DuBois (Scott) of North Granby, CT; a brother, Frank Villareale of Pompano Beach, FL; six grandchildren, Brandan Holbrook (Caroline), Lindsay Shea (Connor), Megan O’Brien (Will), Steven and Melissa Woodruff, and Sienna DuBois.

He was preceded in death by a brother Salvatore and two sisters, Rita and Maria Villareale. He was a longtime member of the Torrington Elks Lodge, and the Sons of Italy Society. Tony was a great storyteller often captivating his audience with his animated descriptions.

A jack of all trades, he was a master carpenter who took pride in his work, loved cooking, growing vegetables in his garden and making great homemade wine. Tony was a kind, selfless gentleman who was always there to lend a hand. He was a true family man, who adored his wife, children and grandchildren.

He enjoyed traveling with his family, spending winters in Florida, Italian food and music, dancing with his beloved wife and playing the Italian card game, Scopa, for hours as he did the night before he passed. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018, with the cortege leaving at 10:00 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
