Archibald Lancelot Fyfe, 94 years, passed away peacefully on February 15th at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home in Gloversville, New York. Son of Archibald Fyfe and F. Louisa (Wenham) Fyfe, he was born November 17, 1924, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Archie grew up in Pittsfield and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1942.

After high school he studied the tool making trade in Springfield, MA, and worked for 35 years as a tool maker at Marland Mold in Pittsfield retiring in 1986. He took great pride in his work and highly valued all the friendships he made at that company. Archie was married to Edna Whipple from 1946 until her passing in 1983.

They were happily married for 37 years. In 1984, he married Virginia Vertucci of Gloversville, NY. They would have celebrated their 35th anniversary this year.

Archie was an avid golfer year round, both in Gloversville during the summer and at his winter home in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He enjoyed camping, downhill skiing, cross county skiing, canoeing, coaching basketball in Lanesborough, MA, square dancing, and participating in the Annual Josh Billings RunAground. As a member of the Gloversville Lions Club, he volunteered in the transportation of donated eye organs to area hospitals.

Archie very much enjoyed helping family and friends and loved to sing, everything from high school solos to sing-alongs at the nursing home. Archie was preceded in death by his brother Donald Fyfe of Hollis, New Hampshire. He is survived by four children, Donald Fyfe and his wife Judy; David Fyfe and his wife Cathy; Carol Johnston and companion Ed Brown; Ann Fyfe-Liporace and her husband Mark Liporace; and step- daughter Kathy (Vertucci) Riccio.

Archie was preceded in death by his step-son Frank Vertucci. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 21 great- grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at Gloversville Funeral Service, 4 Second Avenue, Gloversville, NY on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 11 a.m. A graveside service will be held at Pittsfield Cemetery at a later date.
