Obituary for Mr. Arvin Webster Guffey, “Papa” Walhalla, SC / Augusta, GA — Arvin Webster Guffey, 75, husband of Eunice Lenora Nicholson Guffey, of 135 Crowes Drive, Walhalla, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at AnMed Hospital. A native of Asheville, NC, Mr. Guffey was the son of the late John Webster Guffey and Sue Wright Guffey. He retired as a self-employed roofer and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Mr. Guffey never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. He was a master cake baker, known for his Red Velvet and Pumpkin Cakes. Mr. Guffey attended Flat Shoals Independent Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Guffey is survived by his sons: Jack Guffey, Blane Morgan and Clyde Rice (wife: Cede); daughter: Carla Morgan-Gibbs; brother: Bobby; sister: Carmie; grandchildren: Drew Morgan, Mati Gibbs, Hamp Gibbs, Sharkari Guffey, Sierra Guffey, Shanta Guffey, Sharon Hamilton and Sabrena Alexander; and great-grandchildren: Bentley Morgan, Zaylan “Bud Bud” Durham and Shelby Alexander. A dedicated family man, Papa will be loved, cherished and fondly remembered by all who knew him. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 11, 2019, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel.

Family to receive friends immediately following the service. Flowers are accepted. The family is at their respective homes.
