Lawrence Marshall Evatt, 73, of 625 Broadway Street, Newry, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019, at GHS Cottingham Hospice House. A native of Oconee County, SC, Mr. Evatt was the son of Mattie Bonner Evatt of Newry, SC and the late Lawrence Adam Evatt. He graduated from Tri-County Technical College with an associate’s degree and later worked at Schlumberger as a production supervisor.

Mr. Evatt was a member of Lydia Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. In addition to his mother, Mr. Evatt is survived by his sons: Lance Evatt (Kayla) of Anderson, SC and Lee Evatt of Newry, SC; daughter: Dee Morris (Rick) Naples, FL; and five grandchildren: Dani, Luke, Ayeesha, Lennan and Callen. In addition to his father, Mr. Evatt was preceded in death by his brother: Richard Evatt; and sister: Sybil Evatt Reece.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 25, 2019, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 PM, Monday, prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Lydia Baptist Church, Attn: Building Fund, PO Box 59, Newry, SC 29665 or to Oconee Hospice of the Foothills, GHS Cottingham Hospice House, Attn: Foundation Office, 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, SC 29672.
