Audrey Lee Goldasich (nee Wood), age 89, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, in the early morning hours of June 22, 2018. Audrey was born September 15, 1928 in Glomar, KY to the late Ernest and Leona Wood. The family would later move to East Chicago, IN.

Shortly thereafter, she met and wed the love of her life, Rudy A. Goldasich. Always an avid reader, she led the charge to bring the Bookmobile to Channahon, leading to the construction of the library. She enjoyed a wide variety of music, being a self-appointed side line coach for the Chicago Bears, baking the world’s greatest chocolate chip cookies, traveling, doting over her grandchildren, and always made sure bread and butter were on the table.

Survived by her adoring sister, Ruth (late James) Dimitroff; cherished children, Thomas Goldasich, Linda (Patrick) McEvilly, Nancy (late James Sr.) Matesevac, Gail (Jo Ann Amick) Goldasich and Michael Gold; doting grandchildren, Candace (Brian) Thomas, Justin Ashley, Emily (Miklos) Simon, Liz Ashley, Mary Ashley, James Jr. (Katanya) Matesevac, Karen (Paul) Scherer Jennifer Amick, Neil McEvilly, Darren McEvilly, Nick Matesevac, Matthew Matesevac, Merritt Maya, Logan Gold, and Lauren Gold; precious great-grandchildren, Freya and Iris, Graham, Bennett and Zayd. Preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Leona Wood; husband of 44 years, Rudy A. Goldasich; sister, Elise Komara; and brother, George Wood. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the ER and ICU staff at Morris Hospital for their exemplary care, and also the friends and staff at Park Pointe Assisted Living for loving Audrey as much as we do.

In lieu of flowers, donation in Audrey’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated. A celebration of Audrey’s life will begin on Thursday, June 28, 2018 with a memorial visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Fr. Tuan Van Nguyen officiating.

Per Audrey’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
