Thomas A. Furto at the age of 98, departed peacefully from this life on Monday, June 4, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family in a prayerful setting. Tom is survived by Helen (nee Hartung) Furto, his loving wife of 70 years (married February 7, 1948 in Joliet, IL); children, Lorraine (Gerald) Davidson, James (Peg), Louise, Ronald, Diane and Dennis Furto; grandchildren, Marcia Davidson, Kathleen (Brian) Kaplan, Andrea (Robert) McBroom, Kristine (Steve) Carlson and Shondra (Taylor) Cook; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Prombo; brothers, Frank and Anthony; sister-in-laws, Bernice Furto and Eileen Testin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Furto; son, Albert; brothers and sisters, Marie (in-infancy), Agnes (George) Beno, Mary (John) Ferak, Joseph (Frances), John (Carol), Theresa, and Benedict; sisters-in-law; Ann and Margaret; brothers-in-law, Bill Delrose, Tony Prombo, and Joseph Testin.

Tom served in the Army for almost 3 ½ years during World War II and participated in the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. He worked for 53 years at the Joliet Pattern Workshop as a Tool and Die Maker. The family would like to thank Joliet Area Community Hospice for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, masses offered in Tom’s name or donations to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. A celebration of Tom’s life will begin on Friday, June 8, 2018 with a visitation from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Road – Joliet, IL) then driving in procession to St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Crest Hill for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Tom will be laid to rest at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery in Joliet where full military honors will be rendered.
