Donald C. Thayer Age 58, of Crest Hill, passed away early Sunday June 3, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, with his loving wife by his side. Don was a lifelong resident of the Joliet area, graduating from Joliet Central High School. He recently retired after many years of dedicated service from the Will County Forest Preserve.

Don enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and spending time with his family. Survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Janet (Jessee) Thayer; beloved daughters Chrissy (Harold) Espaillat, Lauren Thayer; mother Geraldine (Seeley) Thayer; brothers and sisters, Judy Richards, Wally (Dawn) Thayer, Mike (Sheresa) Thayer, Dave (Sue) Thayer, Peggy (Rick) Friddle and Scott (Brandi) Thayer. He was the doting grandfather of his pride and joy and “little buddy”, Ethan Espaillat.

Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Preceded in death by His father Donald C. Thayer Sr. and brother-in-law Harvey Richards. Funeral Services will be held, Friday June 8, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home.

As per Don’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded after services. Visitation Friday 3:00 p.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Don’s name to the Joliet Area Community Hospice.
