James Neal Elens Age 75, passed away on Saturday June 2, 2018 at his home, with family by his side. Born June 9, 1942 in Joliet, Illinois and a lifetime area resident. Attended and Graduated Joliet Township High School.

Served in the United States Army three years, Stationed in Germany. Retired in 2002 from the E.J.&E. Railroad Company Police Department after 36 years of service with the Company.

Was employed by the University of Illinois, Police Training Institute for five years as a firearms instructor. Was a member of Ingalls Park United Methodist Church and active in the United Methodist Men’s Club. Preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Cheryl (Howland) Elens; parents, John and Ella Elens; one infant daughter Heather Lynn; one infant grandson J.T.; one sister Nancy (Spencer) Phillips.

Survived by three daughters Annette L. Elens, Kelly W. (Andrew) Clements and Sandra K. (Shane) Vogel; four grandsons David N. Clements, Shawn Vogel, Anthony “A.J.” Vogel and Jacob Vogel; one granddaughter Stephanie Clements. Following the wishes of Jim Elens, cremation will be accorded, with private interment of cremains at Elmhurst Cemetery at a later date.
