Obituary for Joseph A. Troha Of Joliet, passed away at RML Specialty Hospital in Hinsdale, Saturday, June 2, 2018 Age 73 years. Survived by two son Mark (Kelly) Troha of Plainfield and David Troha of Downers Grove. Four beloved grandchildren Kaylei, Alyssa, Connor and Maxwell Troha.

His loving companion of 25 years Betty Corp. His brother James (Carol Kaluzny) Troha. A nice Shelli (Issac) Blenck and a nephew and Godson Michael (Lois) Troha.

Five great-nieces and nephews. Also survived by many cousins and his special cousin Joe (Sue) Shetina. Joe leaves behind many caring friends, his active and retired police family and his dear friend of over 50 years Jack Facinelli.

Preceded in death by his parents Anton and Catherine Troha. His sister Janet Wonnell and brother-in-law William Wonnell Joe was born March 7, 1945 in Joliet. He graduated from Joliet Catholic High School class of 1963 and continued hi education with a degree in accounting from Joliet Junior college.

Veteran of the United States Army Reserves. In 1971, Joe attended the Chicago Police Academy, joined the Joliet Police Department and retired in 1993 after 22 years of dedicated service, illustrated by his reception of a medal and plaque honoring him for his outstanding act of bravery in 1974. Joe is a founding father of the FOP Lodge #58, where he served as first vice president and president from 1980 to 1989.

He remained a dedicated and active member, contributing as needed throughout retirement. Joe was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #300, the Moran AC and the Croatian Culture Club. Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd.

, Thursday, June 7th at 1:30 P.M. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials to Morning Star Mission or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital will be appreciated.
