Barbara Jean Gibbs Smith went to Heaven on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at age 80. She is survived by one daughter, Olivia “Libby” (Randy) Smith Shelton; two granddaughters, Kristi (Scott) Heath and Cassie (Matt) Peterson; four great granddaughters, Miranda Heath, Andrea Heath, Mya Heath, and Willa Heath; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Gibbs; cousin, Hobart McCollum; and other extended family and friends. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Billy B. Smith; her parents, Homer and Ruth Gibbs; one brother, Joe Gibbs; and sister/best friend Donna Griffis.

She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church for almost 50 years where she taught Sunday School for many years and was always very active. She was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for Mt. High Fire Department.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church with the funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Barbara Jean Gibbs Smith please visit our Sympathy Store.
