The community of Gardendale lost its beloved Granny, Jacqueline Hall Fritz “Jackie” on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at age 82. Jackie was born on February 2, 1937, Groundhog’s Day, to Rilles Monroe and Lilly Belle Hall. She was one of 9 children with 7 sisters and 1 brother.

She was a member of Republic Baptist Church. A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, she is survived by her husband, Vernon “Howard” Fritz; daughters, Vickie Johnson Wood (Vertice “Sonny” Wood) and Amanda Fritz Robertson; two granddaughters, Victoria Johnson and Lexi Robertson; one great grandchild, Ashton Murphree Robertson; two sisters, Mildred Osborn, and Bobbie Burgett (Wayne Burgett); and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at The New Gardendale Funeral Home, 2214 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071.

The urn will be placed at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL on Monday at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Birmingham Humane Society. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Jacqueline M. “Jackie” Fritz please visit our Sympathy Store.
